I’m Carter, a journalist drawn to stories that reflect the diversity, complexity, and resilience of the people behind them. I fell in love with journalism early in the pandemic, a time when truth felt more vital than ever.

Today, I report on education, healthcare, and technology at the Jacksonville Business Journal, where I explore how these systems intersect and shape life on the First Coast. I also dig into market data to compile weekly Lists that spotlight the region’s business landscape.

My roots in journalism were planted at the University of North Florida, where I led the campus’ student-run media organization Spinnaker as editor-in-chief. Over three years, our newsroom earned national recognition and, in 2024, I was named SPJ Florida’s College Journalist of the Year.
